Mouawad unveils diamond necklace with world’s largest flawless diamond at Doha Jewelry and Watches Exhibition...
Mouawad’s relationship with making the best of jewelry, and using the rarest materials with each of its creation has been documented well before. The easiest claim-to-fame products from the Qatari International jewelry include the world’s most expensive handbag, which had more diamonds that one may care to count, and thus sported a glitzy 3.8 million USD price tag. Now, they have unveiled the world’s largest internally flawless diamond at Doha Jewelry and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), a part of the necklace called L’Incomparable, meaning ‘the Incomparable’. Certified by the Gemological Institute of America, the amber shaded giant diamond is known to be weighing around 407.48 carats.
With this particular diamond, Mouawas takes jewelry to a whole new level of elite designing and value. What also makes it precious is the history, which goes back to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the 1980’s, when a poor girl had found it in a pile of Kimberlite. At first the unpolished mass was thought to be useless for precious stones, but finally this gem came to light, and in 1984, came up for public display. It toured the world for being on display at various museums for its sheer brilliance. Hopefully this time, the diamond is put on display with the right accompaniment of a brilliantly crafted 18K rose gold necklace, which also sports numerous cut diamonds along the neckline.
