Veteran designer Giorgio Armani made a great case for a pleat pant renaissance at Men's Fashion Week in Milan. Materials in the collection were light and summer - sensible, often with the slight sheen of the "technical", sporty weave, and there was plenty of check. There were suits - a series of grey stripes and two static - fuzzy zig zags stood out - but there were many more separates: the 'sports jacket' is tailoring growth area.
Crocodile skin slithered into play via iPad cases, day bags and a white trench and there was an interesting little navy blue meets military section with some superfine summer coats in that blue with attractive brown leather detailing. It is always worth paying close attention to the detail in Armani's shows, because they are all - like those two - rows of pleats on each leg - there for a particular, thought out reason.
