As Jones says, in addition to Vivian Westwood, Nemeth is the second best fashion designer who comes from London. He also thinks Nemeth’s work is not sufficiently appreciated outside Japan, where he lived and worked since 1986. To correct this error, Jones worked with Nemeth’s family and former associates like Judy Blame to create a collection that is homage to his work.
Nemeth Jones enabled Jones to easily download and select prints, by methodically archiving his work before he died in 2010. From these archives, Jones chose four prints for their Autumn / Winter collection and collaborated with artists Louis Vuitton brand to give them a new life. Among the items are Nemeth’s prints of the coat with a laser-made template, t-shirts, cashmere and limited edition suitcase with sophisticated design.
Jones’ use of Nemeth’s materials did not stop with his prints. Nellie Hooper, Nemeth’s friend made a compilation of his favorite songs, and worked with photographer Mark Lebon, who found Nemeth during the eighties while was wearing the clothes he had made himself.
As we expected from Kim Jones and Louis Vuitton brand, collection for Autumn / Winter 2015 is very modern, with a youthful and sporty vibration. With the use of Nemeth’s templates, Jones has also managed to keep the collection fresh and relevant, while at the same time paying tribute to his mentor. The collection consists of sophisticated items such as parkas, jackets, denim jackets and pants decorated with large buttons, safety pins and key chains.
Accessories in this range are presented in the form of briefcases and small postman bags bearing the LV monogram, as well as several models with specific decorations. Collection of shoes for this season is almost entirely composed of shoes and boots with platforms in shades of beige, black, white, dark blue and off-white colors.
