Floral Injection by Normann Copenhagen
Normann Copenhagen x Poppykalas collaboration presents a bold and theatrical take on flower arrangements.
FLORAL INJECTION is an invitation to indulge in the beauty of rich and opulent flowers. Poppykalas has created a feast for the eye and body in the shape of theatrical and playful flower arrangements, centered around Normann Copenhagen’s designs.
Normann Copenhagen approached Poppykalas with the dogma of using flowers differently: not placing them in vases and bowls but instead around, above, beneath, behind and/or growing on the side of the objects.
“I was intrigued by the idea.” says Thilde Maria Kristensen, who is behind Poppykalas. “ I’m always scouting new ways of arranging flowers and this approach was new to me. I love the fact that I have the opportunity to spatially fold out the flowers from their vases into the room and place them in different scenographic compositions. It’s very curated, theatrical and sensuous at the same time.”
The Normann Copenhagen x Poppykalas collaboration has resulted in a conceptual image series, as well as a pop up exhibition in Normann Copenhagen’s showroom, which could be experienced on April 28-29, 2017. The concept consists of seven works and appears as a condensed version of Poppykalas’ universe with all of Thilde Maria Kristensen’s signature flowers, combined with the more stringent aesthetics of Normann Copenhagen.
“It’s a great match, and it’s been very inspiring to work with Normann Copenhagen. To me FLORAL INJECTION is a modern interpretation of my grandmother’s farm with a Pippi Longstocking’s anarchistic way of thinking of flowers without rules. You can place them everywhere and they can appear in many forms: natural, artificial, pressed etc.” explains Thilde.
FLORAL INJECTION features delicate poppies, chosen for their softness and poetic texture, and anthurium with their plastic, artificial look. Fresh roses, everlasting roses and roseleaves add romance, while gold painted leaves bring the theatricality of great divas and extravagant feelings into the mix. The flowers interact with elegant vases in glass and porcelain, futuristic bowls in glittering aluminum and an all-time classic: the iconic Krenit bowl.
With their collaboration, Poppykalas and Normann Copenhagen hope to inspire people to decorate with flowers in new ways.
