INCIPIT FOR MILAN DESIGN WEEK

Research and experimentation, energy and dynamism: these are the distinguishing features of Incipit, a young and vibrant reality that has made as its hallmark the collaboration with young designers.

Established in Spring 2013 from an idea by Roberto Hoz and Marta Bernstein, Incipit has distinguished itself through the originality of doing business. Incipit is a training laboratory, a workshop where designers can refine their art and craft of being a contemporary designer. Incipit is an innovative solution, an opportunity for young designers to make their ideas real projects, supporting them in overcoming the difficulties of talking to the traditional manufacturing companies and the market.

The official debut will take place in April 2014, during the Milan Design Week. The location chosen for this occasion isVentura Lambrate, a privileged place where young people and creativity merge since years and where the most interesting and innovative design realities are present.

The 2014 collection is composed by simple and material objects.

Ilaria Innocenti, Emilian young designer based in Milan, presents the Muslet series, characterized by minimal shapes. The simple design of the mechanically turned ceramic containers is enhanced with a wire of copper steel that while wrapping around the container creates an handle, which reminds the cage used to block the champagne cork. The attention to detail is not limited to the design of the Muslet series but is focused on the finishes as well, which are characterized by lead-free glazes and insides of crystalline.

There are people who have lost their head for money: such is the case of Louis, a money box with a stylized piggy shape designed by Philippe Tabet, French designer based in Milan. The money box Louis is made of ceramic casting, characterized by an ironic and light-hearted personality thanks to the different matt lead-free glazes.

Contemporary design meets the ‘par excellence' classic material: marble. This is Pita: a mortar by Tommaso Caldera, a young promise who has gained experience in important design ateliers. Pita is made of white Carrara’s marble with grey veins, is transformed into an extremely daily item, thanks to its compact shape. Pita is able to make a show of even the simple act of stepping spices and herbs directly on the table.
