Inspired by molecular gastronomy

If we stop and think, cutlery is definitely something that is mostly used in every household...

However, rarely any of us will think that they need new cutlery, unless we are planning a special occasion. Then we will reconsider all the good qualities of accessories - the form, weight, design. In the end, we’re most likely to choose those traditional designs that are already worn out and buy a similar, if not the same design. Maybe this would not be the case if cutlery was to be professionally designed and carefully presented in specific packaging, as Dune set signed by designer Andrea Ponti.

The name of this collection Dune is the echo of the shape of these pieces - each design has the straight handle, leading to round transitions, reminiscent of sand dunes. Dune packing can be used independently as a stand for accessories, or as a point of decorating your kitchen space.

Ponti explained its elegant and simple combination of cutlery, with packaging that is very unique, and stated that he was inspired by the aesthetics and the tools of experimental cuisine and molecular gastronomy. Therefore, each piece in this set is much more than just cutlery - actually it is a clinical tool of scientists, who research in the field of food.

Aluminum was chosen instead of a typical stainless steel because of its ultra-lightweight characteristics, with anodized finishing details that give it endurance and easier maintenance. In relation to the monolithic mat ABS plastic box with inserts for each piece of cutlery, this set is an elegant, striking and something you want to show everyone.

Unfortunately for us, Dune is set just a concept and part of the private collection of the designer, which means that we will have to use accessories from our kitchen drawers for a while longer.
