Cement and wood are two contrasting materials that work beautifully together in the hands of talented craftsmen and guided by modern technologies.
Since we’re used to seeing cement as a cold shiver-inducing material, Mexican design studio SHIFT thought that we could benefit from a new perspective:
“Long has concrete been regarded as a cold and industrial material. We believe its manual processes and properties, however, make it a modern, expressive and rich substance fit for many objects that have not yet been explored. “La Morena” is our first attempt to relocate this material as a highly aesthetic, modern and friendly component.”
This cement and wood flower pot is the result of industrial craftsmanship and laser precision – a hybrid of materials and technologies that compose a balanced design. La Morena conjures the contrasting power of organic and inorganic, resulting in a highly contemporary aesthetic. We can see this wonderful trend of supporting local production and artistry in many designs and we’re thrilled to see creativity reach new levels.
