According to Sergio Calatroni, “Petals from Tokyo” is the result of a personal research on thebeauty and it is essentially composed by photographs of petals.
For Salone del Mobile 2017, in Milan from 4 to 9 April, the 29th edition of Euroluce is the main sector fair at which Barovier&Toso has taken part for several decades. Once again this year, besides the stand at Hall 9 at the Milano Rho fair facility, Barovier&Toso is operating in two other locations with installations of great theatrical impact.
Euroluce – Hall 9, Stand E19
CalviBrambilla have created a multimedia installation for Barovier&Toso in which fire is a clear protagonist. Seven giant rounded niches, when seen from outside, offer a view only of the back – a huge screen broadcasting images of dancing flames to suggest the genesis of glass – and capture the curiosity of visitors, encouraging them to enter.
Each niche contains a new collection on a panel of white drapes, like a precious chest for jewellery. Together, the displays accompany the visitor along a very free, fluid itinerary, a place for a completely personal and independent experience of discovery.
Bordeaux and black are the main colours of this engaging adventure, made even more immersive by the glossy black floor that reflects the images from the screens and the collections inside the niches, in an effect of multiplication of sensory stimuli.
Showroom – Via Durini 5
Barovier&Toso turns to Elisa Ossino Studio for a creative project that explores the distinctive characteristics of the brand: a kind of storytelling across heritage, tradition, innovation and design, in four episodes, the first of which is presented at the time of the Salone del Mobile 2017.
For this first episode entitled “Segrete stanze” (Secret Rooms), Elisa Ossino Studio has created an illusionary evanescent backdrop that seems to be made of the same lightweight matter as glass. It portrays the Vatican Metal Archives in an image from the 1700s and forms a setting for the luxurious Crown chandelier designed by Brian Rasmussen, one of the most spectacular collections of 2017. With its regal rings, elegant forms and elaborate traditional workmanship, Crown enlivens this austere space with a new luminous spirit.
Casa WWTS – Palazzo Giureconsulti, Piazza Mercanti 2
Barovier&Toso is a sponsor of Casa WWTS, an initiative that has become traditional, at this point, to promote Italian design in Russia and neighbouring countries. For the 2017 edition that takes place at Palazzo Giureconsulti – a splendid location very near the Duomo cathedral – a gigantic Venetian chandelier is immersed in an enchanting cascade of flowers, installed in the main hall of the Palazzo where guests enjoy special evening gatherings (by invitation only). The event is open to visitors every day from 11.00 to 18.00 – until 22.00 on 4th and 8th – with free entrance.
