White chair completes BILLIANI’S “OVERSIZE” trilogy
Billiani, with resolution and stubbornness, continues along the “oversize” road it embarked just over a year ago when it presented Green and Blue chairs.
This year, the third member to complete the trilogy is White, a chair characterized by deliberately large and soft shapes and inspired by the Nordic design of the Sixties.
The name behind the project confirms the Scandinavian nature of the chair: Harri Koskinen, the internationally known designer from Finland, who perfectly interpreted the project guidelines, staying true to Scandinavian tradition, characterised by natural woods.
“The chairs are made for many functions” affirms the designer “In this case, Billiani was looking for a solid, comfortable, stacking, wooden chair”.
And especially the Finnish public seems to have appreciated White’s comfort and solidity in occasion of the event that took place on the 31st May at St. George Hotel in Helsinki and organized by Roltrade, supplier company of Billiani’s products in Finland.
During the evening, local architects and designers had the opportunity to listen to Koskinen’s presentation of White and observe the product directly from its designer’s hands.
White, Green and Blue aredeliberately massive. Common elements characterise them, such as the chunky leg, 4 cm thick, the desire for a simple design, the benefit of being stackable and, obviously, the ash wood. Besides ensuring continuity with Faccin’s projects, the name White wants to be a link to the whiteness of natural ash and to put an emphasis on the Nordic origin of the chair. Probably going against the trend, White stems from the desire to retrace historical concepts in chair design, adding contemporary language. With this trilogy, Billiani left current trends, moving autonomously in a different stylistic direction.
