This year, the highest level of professional American football in the United States is associating with the best of the fashion world to roll out unique helmets.
Super Bowl XLVIII will be held on February 2, 2014 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. That said; let’s turn our attention to the 48 designer helmets that have surfaced to add glamour to this year’s event. Council of Fashion Designers of America have joined hands with the National Football League and Bloomingdale’s to commission one-of-a-kind helmets.
All of them will be unveiled online as well at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship windows on 15th January. Simultaneously, these exceptional helmets will be up for auction until 4th February, to support the NFL Foundation. Since it’s the 48th edition of the Super Bowl in American football, the starting bidding price for the helmets is set at $248 to mark the same. However they are expected to sell for a lot more than what they open at.
Festooned with Mohawks, Swarovski, mesh, embroidery, floral arrangement and other creative stuff, each helmet stands out distinctively. However we are completely bowled over by the one created by Bloomingdale’s window design team. Miniatures of the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty stick out from the helmet to bring attention to one of its host city – New York. FYI, it is the first Super Bowl in which two US states, New York and New Jersey, will work together with hosting duties.
