This is one of the most important cities of Belgium, as well as the cultural and economic center of Wallonia. The city was first mentioned in 558, under the name of Vicus Leudics, while in tenth century, it gained the status of the Episcopal principality which caused his hastened development. Liege is a city with many attractions, and thus is a very popular tourist destination.

Palace of princes or bishops was built in the tenth century, and its present form is received during the period of Bishop Erard de la Mark in 1526. It consists of two courtyards, and it is the seat of the provincial government and the court. The first courtyard is open for visits every day, while the interior of the palace can be visited after sending a written request.

It is rare that a railway station can be called futuristic masterpiece whose existence is impressive, but it is indeed the case with the station Liege-Giullemins. It was restored according to the architectural plans of the Spanish famous architect Santiago Calatrava and officially opened in 2009. Since its opening until today, this station is a landmark of the city Liege.

Liege was the Episcopal seat for more than eight centuries, and a very important political center of medieval Europe. Eight Roman Catholic churches and cathedrals were built during this period, and seven have been preserved until today. Cathedral of St. Lambert was demolished in 1794, but they are still preserved her remains. Church of St. Bartholomew was built in the eleventh century, and her baptistery is one of the seven most important Belgian historical treasures. Grand Curtis Museum originates from the sixteenth century, and has excellent collection of archaeological, decorative, and religious items. Napoleon Memorial and Museum weapons have over a thousand copies of the weapons of the ancient and modern world. There is also a museum with a collection of Wallonia objects from the sixteenth century to the present. Museum Aquarium has 46 pools with 2,500 creatures, and more than 250 ocean, sea, lake, and river species.
