This could be the best design hotel ever...
The first floating hotel in the form of a snowflake will be placed in the fjord near the Norwegian city of Tromso, located in the Arctic Circle, which is one of the best places to watch the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis. Known as Krystall hotel, this unusual property is the work of Dutch Docklands Company, which specializes in intriguing designs of floating structures.
This charming hotel will have 86 rooms, a spa and wellness center, and a conference room, and it will be designed so that it is completely self-sustaining. People who are developing this hotel aim to tie this magnificent snowflake in the bottom of the fjord, but with the possibility of floating. Architect Koen Olthuis of Waterstudio cooperates with Dutch Docklands Company. He developed this hotel with the preservation of the natural environment in mind, so that it can be removed if necessary, without any consequences for the fiord. And also, Dutch Docklands Company is planning to open another floating possession in the Maldives, named Ocean Flower.
