GOLDEN EYE - HOTEL AND RESORT

There aren’t many resorts in the world such as Jamaica’s Goldeneye...

Getting dressed up here means a T-shirt, lazy jeans and flip-flops. Kids swim to the little island in the bay while couples read quietly on iPads and the resort chef cuts coconuts with a machet. Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records bought  the Goldeneye Resort in 1976.

After a two-year, multimillion-dollar renovation, he reopened the resort in late 2010 and now has 22 units including nine beach houses, eight lagoon houses, Fleming´s original villa (Ian Fleming built the resort and wrote all 14 Bond novels here), and four houses built by Blackwell. The house that once belonged to Ian Fleming has three bedrooms with a master bedroom facing the sea. This 18-acre resort is built into its tropical surroundings on Jamaica’s north coast, with a low footbridge across the lagoon and new but rustic-looking cottages that line a 500-foot strip of crescent-shaped sand. The wide range of accommodations- suites, cottages and villas- have modern interiors in a beach- chic palette of colors and textures.  All room options have an outdoor veranda or patio for enjoying the view; some have kitchens and multiple bedrooms. This beautiful luxury resort is all about comfort  !
