Rolls-Royce Phantom Regatta: A one-of-one masterpiece inspired by Britain's sailing heritage

Rolls-Royce Phantom Regatta: A one-of-one masterpiece inspired by Britain's sailing heritage

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has revealed the Phantom Regatta, a one-of-a-kind Phantom Extended commission created as a tribute to the rich sailing traditions of England's southern coastline.

Unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, this extraordinary Bespoke creation draws inspiration from The Solent, Chichester Harbour, and the legendary Cowes Week, one of the world's most prestigious sailing regattas.

The commission also carries deep historical significance. The waters that inspired Phantom Regatta lie just a short distance from the Goodwood Estate and the former seaside home of Sir Henry Royce, co-founder of Rolls-Royce, who lived in West Wittering, only a few miles from the marque's modern headquarters.

An exterior inspired by the sea

The body is finished in an exclusive Regatta Blue, a rich maritime shade reminiscent of the open sea, paired with English White along the lower bodywork. The elegant two-tone finish echoes the waterline of a classic sailing yacht, where the hull meets the ocean.

Enhancing the nautical character are 22-inch fully polished disc wheels, whose brilliant finish recalls the polished stainless-steel winches found aboard competitive racing yachts.

A cabin that evokes life under sail

Inside, Phantom Regatta has been designed to recreate the atmosphere of a luxury sailing yacht gliding beneath full sail. The front cabin is upholstered in Navy Blue leather, while the rear seats are finished in elegant Grace White, symbolizing crisp white sails and sea foam.

Contrasting stitching, seat piping, and the steering wheel combine both colors, while the signature RR monograms are embroidered in Turchese, a vibrant turquoise inspired by crystal-clear coastal waters.

The interior is further elevated through exquisite wood craftsmanship. Piano Milori veneer is paired with Open Pore Royal Walnut, finished by hand with a satin texture that emphasizes the natural beauty of the timber.

The rear picnic tables alone required approximately 120 hours of meticulous craftsmanship. Each table is assembled from 16 carefully matched Royal Walnut slats, arranged to resemble the teak decking of an elegant sailing yacht. Between every slat sits a delicate 2 mm strip of Black Bolivar wood, faithfully recreating the caulking lines found on traditional yacht decks.

The artistry of the ocean

The centerpiece of the interior is a bespoke hand-painted artwork spanning the entire width of the iconic Rolls-Royce Gallery. Titled Watercolour, the composition was created by a Bespoke artist using specially formulated paints and a pigment-blending technique refined over two weeks to accurately capture the movement, depth, and fluidity of the sea.

Above the occupants, the signature Bespoke Starlight Headliner features 1,307 individually installed fiber-optic lights, arranged to represent the swirling tidal currents surrounding the Isle of Wight. Illuminated door panels further reinforce the serene maritime atmosphere throughout the cabin.

A hidden tribute for those who look closely

Like many Bespoke commissions, Phantom Regatta includes a discreet detail reserved for the most attentive observers. Hidden inside the circular air vents are engraved geographic coordinates that only become visible when the vents are rotated.

The passenger-side vents reveal the coordinates of Goodwood House, while the driver's side references the Home of Rolls-Royce, permanently linking the commission to its place of origin.

With Phantom Regatta, Rolls-Royce once again showcases the extraordinary capabilities of its Bespoke division, transforming an automobile into a singular work of art. Combining exceptional craftsmanship, luxurious materials, and a narrative rooted in Britain's rich sailing heritage, this unique Phantom Extended stands as a remarkable expression of personal luxury, timeless design, and artisanal excellence.
