word of mouth CAFE/BAR - BALI

“Our philosophy behind the food is to rock the boat just enough so attention is brought to what is on the plate and the palate. ‘Fresh’ is an important word in our kitchen and so is ‘clean’.”

Originally designed as a showroom to display our own furniture and product designs, the WOM shop space has evolved constantly since first opening in 2009. It is not really a concept shop, but there is a concept evolving within the space - a furniture showroom, a stage for musicians and artists, a bar, a shop, an auction house, an art gallery, a fashion label, a restaurant, an architecture practice, all at once.

“We create spaces that feel good to us and that we enjoy being in, and we embrace the opportunity to share this fun, light hearted experience with visitors to our shop.”

The casual setup of the shop invites a playful interaction – many guests are tempted to lounge in the giant basket of eggs during their shopping experience, or stay longer to enjoy a light meal or drink, seated on acrylic star benches. The bamboo-sheltered alfresco dining and vibrantly coloured bar spaces transition seamlessly into the retail and exhibition spaces, creating a more diverse experience than a traditional retail arrangement is able to offer.

The shop attracts much attention from passers-by via its giant “vintage-broadway” style signage that wraps around the facade. Lettering changes on a regular basis to promote events or share thoughts and ideas.

The interior palette is largely comprised of black, white, teakwood and mirror elements, which allows the bold colours and forms of the furniture and products to really stand out.

Products selected for sale in the shop follow particular criteria of aesthetics, ideas and messages that the owners believe in, and that they want to help deliver to the Bali market. Almost everything within the space is for sale, from the bathroom sink to the dining tables and chairs, from the speakers and lights, to the salad bowls…

Some classics are presented on the menu alongside new combinations of flavors and ingredients that we think work well.

Some of our favorite ingredients that come together are beetroot, feta, jalapeno peppers, zucchini, rosemary, avocado, mango, wasabi, tuna, prosciutto, nutmeg, watercress, ginger, pumpkin, coconut, fennel, parmesan, chocolate, miso, chili, mint, pasta and spinach.

This unusual space attracts attention and awakens the senses and the imagination, invites you to come in and let the colors, shapes, flavors and fragrances overwhelm you. Perfect scenery in the perfect setting of Bali, where everyone will find something they like and just enjoy...
