COLORED DIAMONDS - Precious rarity

Dorfman Jewelers presented a collection of 15 extremely rare diamonds at the jewelery show in Boston...

The event is designed to showcase some of the earth’s rarest treasures, and experts will be on hand to inform clients about the nuances of the color diamonds, and even help them create their own custom designs using a loose color diamond.

Among the exhibit’s natural treasures, which range from $100,000 to $5 million in value and from 1 to 30 carats in size, are a 4-carat pink, heart-shape diamond; a perfectly matched pair of vivid yellow, emerald-cut diamonds weighing over 12 carats combined; and a 20-carat intense yellow cushion-cut diamond that once belonged to the Russian court.

Colored diamonds are among the rarest and most expensive stones available, and over the past few years they have sold at record-breaking prices at auctions internationally.
