Josep Roca is in charge of the wine list and salon itself, Joan is in charge of the kitchen and Jordi is in charge of the dessert menu. They belong to the third generation of a family that started dedicating themselves to restoration in 1929.

In late 2007 the restaurant moved to a modern building custom-built for the restaurant. The new location is about 100 meters from the prior restaurant. Their granparents opened an Inn in Sant Marti de Llemana in 1929, their parents, later on, inaugurated in Girona El restaurante de Can Roca in 1967, and later on, in 1986 the Rocas’s brothers decided to open El Celler de Can Roca just next their parent’s restaurant, place in which, since then, they offer traditional catalonian food.

Such a meteroric climb into the top 10 restaurant in the world, might be attributed to their move and new state-of-the-art kitchen-cum-lab, a wine cellar that offers customers an audio-visual journey through five key wine regions and a breathtaking dining space created with natural, organic materials and an abundance of natural light. El Celler de Can Roca, has obtained several awards by the most renowned gastronomy bodies in Spain, which led them to merit the second Michelin star.

The restaurant was voted 5th best in the world in 2009. and in 2010 the restaurant was advanced to 4th best in the world. It has been awarded three Michelin stars. It is true that all those awards help El Celler to attract people, but for the Rocas’s brothers, the biggest satisfaction is the recognition of their parents and clients for their passion and effort in their service. Spain has yet another top 10 masterpiece restaurant in El Celler De Can Roca.
