NAUTILUS PROJECT - Singapore

The Nautilus Project is a creative restaurant envisioned by Design Spirits studio, and is located on the fourth floor of the ION shopping centre, in Singapore...

The designers wanted this restaurant to be interactive and to have a large degree of refinement. The entrance is unconventional and looks like a giant passage way, which makes visitors feel allured and welcomed. It is flanked on one side by an oyster bar and on the other side by displays of delectable dessert and trays of fresh crustaceans on ice.

We believe they managed to reach their goals… “I stopped making a facade and designed the entrance where a common passageway for the restaurant is, in order to make visitor enter easily without any hesitation. Both are curved inward towards the middle to highlight the beginning of the passageway into the restaurant. This creates a non-intimidating welcome for passers-by to get a glimpse of what the restaurant has to offer, as well as sets the tone for the restaurant’s focus on an interactive experience.” Yuhkichi Kawai

The Nautilus Project is a global culinary project - it is owned by an Indonesian, conceived by a Swede, branded by a British, designed by a Japanese, and its kitchen helmed by a New Zealander chef. But the team's pursuit of using fresh market produce to preserve or enhance each dish is unabashedly the same. Whether you sit at the ice bar to nibble on chilled seafood with a glass of crisp sauvignon blanc, or tuck into appetisers and mains such as smoked beef carpaccio and yellow fin tuna, everything is tasty and fresh… a true magic for all the senses…
