EMU - Italian made furniture

Against the recent trends towards delocalization, Emu’s metal furniture production is strongly established at the Marsciano plant, which covers 70,000 sq.m. and employs 150 workers.

The quality of the furniture is guaranteed by the “made in Italy” production and by Emu’s commitment to technological research, with an ongoing study of materials and production techniques.

Distribution provides further evidence of the period of strong company growth, with 20 new Flag Stores and 70 Shop-in-Shops opening in Italy and in Europe and an extensive network of over 1000 dealers specialized in outdoor furniture. Recently, thanks to the new design collections, the company’s products have been chosen also by the finest quality furniture shops. The growth in sales and production in these last years bears witness to the great expansion of Emu, which is currently the largest producer of outdoor metal furniture and furnishings in Europe.

Thanks to the diversification of its lines and its exceptional production capacity, Emu is the only company that covers an extremely broad market, ranging from large-scale retail to the luxury sector. The product lines, which include chairs, tables, loungers, furniture for relaxing, living room sets and accessories, are available in a variety of materials, from metal to Emu wicker and Teak Metal, and they can satisfy every price and design need.

Contract

The contract market, a strategic collective sector for the company, has given life to international combinations. Many prestigious hotels have in fact chosen Emu for furnishing charming terraces and other areas: the Colony Hotels group on the Costa Smeralda, The Gray of the Sina Hotels and the Park Hyatt in Milan, the Esedra in Rome, the Granducato in Florence and the Hotel dei Dogi in Venice of the Boscolo Hotels group, to name but a few, are home to the unmistakable taste and Italian style of Emu’s creations. Emu is also notably present in the Venaria Reale – the Savoy royal palace – and at the Le Saut du Loup and Ephémère restaurants in Paris.

Design and international market

The latest collections were designed by internationally famous designers. Names such as Arik Levy, Carlo Colombo, Paola Navone, Patricia Urquiola, Jean-Marie Massaud, Christophe Pillet and Rodolfo Dordoni have already created exclusive lines for Emu, and other top international designers will be added in the future.

The company’s strategy is backed by a strong advertising campaign in all the most important publications in Europe, contributing to Emu’s great success.

The 2011 Emu Corporate Statement

In the year of its sixtieth anniversary, Emu describes itself in essence as a company of people and a brand of values. The new 2011 statement speaks of all who choose Emu to be part of their daily lives and special moments. Emu’s life story highlights the values of commitment, perseverance, and dedication that are shared by all who participate in the various production processes and transfer some of themselves onto the final products. For this very reason, Emu is able to create furniture with strong personality from its birth, forged from invaluable experience. These same furnishings, once purchased, take on further experience as they become part of the lives and memories of those around them.

The 2011 catalogue describes the relationship between its products and those who design, produce, and sell them. The advertising campaign reports the ability of Emu products to become part of the lives of the people who use them, creating unions that surpass time.

Me Emu graphically represents this union and, on a communicative level, symbolises the freedom to experience the outdoors according to each individual’s personality and desires.

Emu’s sixtieth year corresponds with the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy—a coincidence that strongly signifies the worth of a company like Emu to the “Made in Italy” industry. The logo dedicated to this important anniversary accompanies the new advertising campaign and expresses pride for its history of challenges accepted and goals achieved.

Aside from its tradition of advertising campaigns characterized by style and originality, another important feature throughout Emu’s history is its partnership with renowned cultural and sporting events, the organisation becoming known over time as “the company that furnishes sport and culture.” The Olympics, the Swimming World Cup, the tennis tournaments of Montecarlo and Rome, and the Cannes Film Festival are only some of the most widely-followed international events with which Emu has partnered.

Emu believes in sports’ ability to generate a sense of well-being and to inspire positive growth in young people by supporting values like personal care, a spirit of unity, and a healthy life in rapport with nature. Similarly, Emu encourages the promotion of the Italian culture, recognising in its art, music, and experience a heritage of inestimable value.

Our outdoor furniture has been designed and tested with reference to the mechanical and general safety requirements prescribed by European standards and currently applicable to this sector. Every product sheet reports the code number of the tests passed by the corresponding item pursuant to the appropriate standards. All tested items have achieved the Contract standard, which is the highest standard under the current regulation. As a result, they can be applied not only for private use (lower-grade Camping and
Domestic standards), but also for professional use (collective use in public places such as restaurants, hotels, open swimming pools…).

The history of EMU inevitably merges with the material it represents: Metal. These two elements have much in common: versatility, longevity and sensitivity towards the environment thanks to metal’s total recyclability. EMU’s great experience in metal production is renewed every day with the application of new techniques and ideas without every neglecting how importance it is to find
productive solutions that safeguard the surrounding area, recycling production
waste and using material with low environmental impact.
