Ulysse Nardin - Freak Lab

The Swiss watchmaking brand Ulysse Nardin, has shaken the world of watchmaking in 2001, presenting its original Freak clock ...

It was a model of the clock without dial, crown and hands, and now it is offered in a slightly different issue, in cooperation with FreakLab. FreakLab edition debuted at this year's watchmaking in Basel, presenting us even more innovations, including a new, centralized balancing spring.

Collectors will recall that the original Freak edition had a mechanism outside of the center. As regards the functions carried out and characteristics which owns, FreakLab has a first display with date, as well as a new system to absorb shocks, UlyChoc. Of course, Calibre UN-210, which is the work of the brand, is equally impressive.

Taking into account that the Freak timepiece was a monster from the start, we agree with the fact that he deserves extreme function date, as well as all others. Adding these functions presented a major challenge of this company, but this watches have found a way to do it in an unusual way.

As an limited edition of only 99 pieces, available for purchase only in Ulysse Nardin boutiques around the world, this clock is unique. Middle housing and pedals are made of tinted titanium, while the base itself created out of carbon fiber.

The exact process of creating these details on titanium is not known, but we are ready to bet it's the anodization! Also, we are not sure what is the effect of the central balance the clock, but we will not engage in speculation. Sure, it seems like a good idea.
