LOUIS VUITTON FALL/WINTER 2013 PFW

For the fall/winter 2013 season, Louis Vuitton sends their stylish traveler to the Kingdom of Bhutan in the Himalayas.

Traveling to the Himalayas himself to do research for the collection, Louis Vuitton men’s studio and style director, Kim Jones explains that the “collection is often an actual journey…it comprises what you take with you and what you bring back both physically and mentally from the experience.” Getting the most out of his travels, Jones was inspired by the appearance of snow leopards and tigers, which definitely played a hand in the collection’s signature print motif. Tackling the history of mountaineering, rugged silhouettes are mixed with the heritage of the French house for luxurious outerwear that showcases a playful masculine nature. Accented with furs and leathers, the core pieces reinforce the collection’s theme of adventure. Furthermore, borrowing from the Bhutanese, mixed patterns are inspired while blankets woven from cashmere are translated into ponchos. Rounded out by Louis Vuitton’s esteemed handiwork in the accessories department, the overall experience is a rich one.
