Thanks to a giant sepia lit ball hanging from the ceiling, the colors of the garments became hardly distinguishable, like a sea of grays mirroring Jacobs’ perspective on recent life events, events that could hardly be described in notions as simple as black and white.
At the second viewing, with the lighting shifted, the positive note of the collection became noticeable in the familiarity, the comfort and the rather uncomplicated character of the clothes. Jacobs filled the runway with garments that appeared as heading towards a new direction, one much in accordance with the times we are living, but still carrying along a certain sense of nostalgia.
From beautiful coats, to fox fur ensembles, cable knit sweaters and pencil skirts, everything in the collection read today and maybe that was due to the line-up’s wearable character, or maybe it was down to the softness that gently marked the presentation. Whichever the case, women will be thrilled to wear Marc Jacobs again come fall.
