Leica presents their new special edition camera

"Photography is telling a story in one sentence." – Seal

Leica has announced its latest special edition camera, the Leica Q2 "Dawn" designed in collaboration with British singer-songwriter, Seal.

Limited to just 500 pieces worldwide, the set includes a Leica Q2 camera wrapped in luxurious Japanese fabric, with a special lanyard and exclusive scarf.

With technical specifications identical to the production version of the Q2, the camera has a few unique cosmetic differences such as a black Leica 'dot' logo on the front, an exotic Japanese kimono fabric cover, along with a printed edition number and Seal’s signature.

Instead of leather, the camera is covered with an "exclusive Japanese fabric" that was created in collaboration with the Japanese brand Hosoo. The brand made the fabric from black thread (93% polyester) and gold-coloured Japanese paper (7% washi). The paper of the Japanese brand Hosoo is inspired by the sun's rays breaking through the leaves of the canopy, creating an interplay of light and shadow. Due to the pattern on the fabric, no two cameras are the same, which makes each of the 500 cameras truly unique and special.

The all-black Leica camera strap has the standard black leather end protectors, as well as an additional leather section, featuring the words to Seal’s song printed in gold lettering. The quote "you became the light on my dark side" was taken from his hit song "Kiss from a Rose".

The set also includes a limited-edition black scarf designed by multimedia visual artist from Munich, Annina Roescheisen, which was made in Italy in collaboration with the New York fashion brand Rag & Bone.

The camera was featured in Seal’s photography exhibition, which is open at the Leica Gallery in Los Angeles from September 21 to October 31, 2022. It is limited to 500 pieces and is available for purchase for $5,995 at Leica stores and on the company's website.
