„A“ name comes from first letter of the name Aleksandra, name of Andrey Melnichenko’s wife, former Serbian model. Radical design from Philip Stark with structure concentrated on middle of the boat, gives this boat a look of submarine. Unique in many things „A“ is drastically different from anything you have already seen. It is considered to be the best equipped yacht in the world. Mirrors are dominating throughout the boat. It has seven floors, separated elevators for crew and owners, heliport, 3 pools, 6 guest rooms.
Main bedroom has white walls decorated with calf leather and mirrors, unique jacuzzi, and it is the safest room on the yacht, available only after the finger scan. On the middle of this 240 square meters room is rotating bed which allows you to have best view on the Sun during the whole day.
Dual diesel engines with 24.000 hp secure sailing speed of 24 knots and make this boat one of the fastest in its class. Unique design provides sail without waves. It was built in German shipyard „Blohm and Voss“.
There are 40 crew members, accompanied with surfing and water skiing experts. Even the clothes for crew are designed by Stark – white during the day, and black during the night. Maintenance costs around 20 million dollars a year, and price to build it was 300 million.
