MARINA CVETIC - refined wine

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Marina Cvetic: At the very heart of the Masciarelli story ...

The Masciarelli Tenute Agricole company is founded by Gianni Masciarelli in 1979 in a small estate of 2.5 hectares in San Martino sulla Marrucina (near Chieti, Abruzzo), starting the production of quality wines in 1981.

Since then the company has steadily expanded its vineyards heritage, extending its presence to the most suitable territories in all 4 provinces of Abruzzo and reaching 320 hectares of vineyards and olive tree groves. Today, the company is involved in the production of wine and olive oil and in actively promoting the local wine-tourism through the acquisition and careful restoration of the “Castle of Semivicoli”, a baronial mansion of the seventeenth century, nowadays charming background to tastings, artistic and musical events.

The fulcrum of the philosophy of Gianni Masciarelli is the Abruzzo region, in a continuous effort to understand and valorize its winemaking culture and tradition. Since the very beginning, the company bets on the potential of native grape varieties, such as the Montepulciano and the Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, considered the maximum expression of local specialties.

In 1987, the meeting of Masciarelli and Marina Cvetic initiates a personal and professional relationship that would make a decisive impact on the company history.

Marina Cvetic backs up her husband in every aspect of the production and marketing of wine, devoting herself with determination and enthusiasm to the internationalization of the company. Within a few years, Gianni Masciarelli decides to dedicate an entire product line to his life and work companion, at a time when it was unusual to call a wine with a woman's name, furthermore “foreigner”. Thus was born, among the general distrust of the traditionalist Abruzzo wine landscape, the Marina Cvetic Line, whose symbol is today the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo San Martino Rosso, nationally and internationally well-known.

Fruit of a careful selection of Montepulciano grapes from the finest Masciarelli vineyards in San Martino Sulla Marrucina – Cave, San Silvestro e Colle di Paolo, about 450 meters a.s.l.), the company true heart and headquarter – this wine best represents Marina Cvetic’s winemaking style and a genuine and deep taste of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.

In fact, San Martino is an area particularly suited for wine production, due to its unique soil and climate conditions: being equidistant from the Adriatic Sea and the Majella massif (one of the highest of the peninsula), this area is able to give the wine aromas and elegant notes unique in the Abruzzo region, due to a significant temperature range and a constant movement of streams that mix sea breezes to the cold wind of the mountain all year round.

Born from this exceptional melting pot, the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Marina Cvetic has established itself over the years as one of the most personal and authentic expressions of the vine, presenting a unique and complex, very pleasant identity, recognizable to the general public.
