The quintessence of cognac to savour neat, for a sensory experience like no other, the L’Or de Jean Martell, an essence of Martell expertise and an outstanding blend of over 400 rare eaux-de-vie, some over a century old, which has been created from a series of ‘unique encounters’, has now encountered with a man who values time. As the House of Martell, the oldest of the big cognac houses, has called upon the creativity of French interior architect and designer Eric Gizard to create a special luxury gift box called the “Dôme”, to further enhance the most beautiful gem in its collection, L’OR de Jean Martell. On the same note of Martell's collaboration with a renowned designer to create an exclusive, special edition bottle, we have earlier seen the Martell XO Exclusive Architect Edition by Pritzker award-winning French architect Christian de Portzamparc.
French designer Eric Gizard, who finds its inspiration and sources in the contemporary Decorative Arts and is noted for its style boasting distinctive characteristics like strong contrasts, creation of ‘chiaroscuro effect, and a judicious combination of tradition and modernity, has designed an exquisite box ‘Dôme’ to protect, carry and display this precious elixir.
The main idea behind the creation of Dôme that perfectly matches the sophistication of blend, was to surround the L’OR de Jean Martell with several skins that would gradually lead to the cognac, making a ritual out of serving it.
And the result is, the Sèvres Crystal decanter is presented under a leather Dome, which itself is sheathed in a delicate cover of thermoformed fabric.
Eric Gizard has set the decanter on an elegant pedestal, and a concave mirror has been placed behind the carafe to add to the cognac’s aura and to fully reveal its color.
