Two hugely important names have undergone some deeply representative events back in 1962, like the Macallan, as the Macallan 1962 had started being distilled in Speyside, Scotland, and James Bond, as the first ever Bond movie had been put together, Dr. No.
As a world-renowned film franchise was born and an extraordinarily exclusive mark of whisky was being distilled, 1962 has therefore become a rather famous number. And 50 years plus have passed since then, so the Macallan brand has announced its intentions of donating a 1962 bottle from its Fine and Rare collection to be auctioned off for charity.
According to some sources, the auction is due to take place at Sotheby’s in London, as part of the brand’s Finest & Rarest Wines sale, on the 17th of April 2013. The proceeds resulted from the auction will be donated to the Government Communications Fund (GC Fund), which actively supports former and actual members of GCHQ, affected by distress and trammel.
As for the bottle, it reportedly boasts a uniquely signed label with the signatures of James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, alongside Javier Bardem and Bérénice Marlohe. As a preview of this we’re going to mention the Macallan in Lalique 64 year old Cire Perdue which was auctioned in November 2010 for $460,000 with proceedings fully donated to charity. This is in fact a registered Guinness World Record.
