HUGO BOSS - fall/winter 2015 @ NYFW

Hugo Boss Autumn / Winter 2015 collection was officially presented during Fashion Week in New York...

When Jason Wu assumed the role of creative director of women's department in Hugo Boss, he had a very difficult task - the presence of women in the primarily male world was in full swing and it is in this environment that he had to prove himself. This task was not at all easy, as brand history tells us this, but Jason Wu had more than successfully designed the beautiful pieces for both sides of this fashion empire. On his way, he developed a feminine aesthetics of the brand, which is riddled with interesting and delicate details.

Without any surprise, his Hugo Boss concept is built on tailoring. This is fine, but not enough, at least not for the world of popular fashion runway. Wu has done a perfect job of cutting corners and technologies of the fashion house, and so gained access to an endless number of interesting techniques. One of the interesting data is that in the studio there are no scissors, the fabrics were all laser cut, as he said shortly before the fashion show.

He was inspired by that particular element and created a bit industrial motive and applied it to carefully tailored pieces. Clothing is thus given a graphic element, while the coats and garments tailored from a single block of material presented perfectly precise arcs and curves. It was very noticeable on the charcoal gray and orange slices. Wu has developed several new types of materials that are given refined texture. He also worked on the softness and fluidity of pieces that were subtly moving with models’ motion.

Every piece of clothing from his new collection is an ode to the rights of sophistication, but also his ability and imagination. He presented the collection for ladies who are capable and independent, ready to conquer the whole world. Hugo Boss ladies are not promiscuous and do not seek attention and figure-hugging open dresses - they do not seek approval from the rest of society, they are here and they are ready to win every challenge.

Some pieces were irresistibly appealing, while others were just interesting to watch. All in all, Wu at this fashion show presented the fusion of cutting and technology, in his understanding of the feminine aesthetic.
