The bag is the work of creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, who drew inspiration from the historic Maison d’Asnières—the Vuitton family residence built in 1869. Located at 18 Rue Louis Vuitton, the house has been reimagined here as a miniature structure that can be carried by hand.
What makes this piece truly unique is its fidelity to the original architecture. Every detail has been meticulously recreated—from stained glass windows inspired by Art Nouveau aesthetics, featuring iris and poppy motifs, to the façade that mirrors the structure of the house itself. Some even suggest that the iconic LV monogram may have been influenced by floral patterns found within this very residence.
The construction remains true to the brand’s DNA: the signature S-lock closure, gold-tone metal hardware, reinforced corners, and the rigid trunk form that echoes Louis Vuitton’s heritage in travel craftsmanship. The roof is reinterpreted through a sharply angled leather lid, while a delicate enamel bird perched on top evokes the natural surroundings of the original property.

The story gains even greater depth knowing that the original Maison d’Asnières still functions today as a workshop, where around 30 artisans create the brand’s most exclusive trunk pieces, alongside a private archive housing over 165,000 documents and 23,000 artifacts spanning more than 170 years of history.
