“Carmel” was founded in 1882, by baron Edmond de Rothschild, owner of “Chateau Laffite” in Bordeaux. “Carmel” owns two biggest vineries in Israel, “Rishon Le Zion” and “Zichron Ya'acov”, and two small modern vineries “Ramat Dalton” and “Tel Arad”. Their products go from prestigious one “Carmel limited edition”, one of the best wines in Israel to “Carmel Selected” best-selling wine in Israel. Their brands are: “Carmel Limited Edition”, “Single Vineyard”, “Appellation”, “Private Collection” and “Selected”.
Lior Laxer, ex lawyer and sommelier is in charge. After changing career he studied and graduate wine production in Beaune in France. He joined “Carmel” in 2003, and became director in 2005. He likes making refreshing wines with elegant taste. Accent is on fruity taste, not oak.
