Home to a unique perspective of the Melbourne Vista; at the luxury lounge bar Crown’s Club 23, where memories are made and elite retreat to a glamorous evening, an award-winning in-house Australian mixologist Joel Heffernan made a $12,500 cocktail to break the current world record for the world’s most expensive cocktail held by $8,830 ‘Salvatore’s Legacy’, which was recently developed by world’s acclaimed mixologist Salvatore Calabrese ‘The Maestro’. Set to be claimed as a Guinness world record, the basis of the cocktail is a bottle of vintage 1858 Croizet cognac, which is already a world record holder for being valued at $157,000. Interestingly, the cocktail is named ‘Winston’ as in tribute to Britain's former Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who’s on the eve of D-Day back in 1944 is said to have shared a rare bottle of 1858 Croizet with Allies commander General Dwight Eisenhower.

The vintage bottle of 1858 Croizet was purchased by Crown Melbourne’s Club 23 bar, whose executive barman Mr. Joel Heffernan has invested his two days in preparation for the exotic cocktail, which includes two nips of Croizet along with Grand Mariner Quintessence, Chartreuse Vieillissement Exceptionnellement Prolonge, and a dash of Angostura Bitters.

Further, the Heffernan’a concoction is presented with chocolate nutmeg dust, essence of poppy seed and roses, and hints of coconut, passionflower and oranges.

An additional 11 such cocktails will be made available for purchase at Club 23 Melbourne, but on a prior notice.
