The most expensive whiskey collection in the whole world

Most likely, you have never heard of a fifty-year-old businessman from Vietnam named Viet Nguyen Dinh Tuan until now.

Still, if you are a whiskey collector or lover, then you definitely know about the Macallan Fine & Rare Collection, which presents periodic, extremely limited offerings of some of the most distilled and oldest editions of this distillery. If you're a big fan, then you've definitely heard of the Springbank 1919 single malt whiskey, which was introduced in 1970, with only 24 bottles produced. On October 24 last year, one of these cult classics was sold in London for $ 283,000, making it the most expensive bottle of Springbank whiskey ever sold.

Tuan, the Vietnam businessman we mentioned earlier, owns one of these bottles. In addition, he has a full set of Macallan Fine & Rare Collection whiskeys, including the first edition - 1926 whiskey, with only 14 bottles being produced, which is only one part of his 535 bottles collection, which was recently estimated at 13.9 million dollars and certified by the Guinness Book of World Records, as the most valuable whiskey collection in the world. Although other collectors may have multiple editions, none have been able to collect as many bottles which would be collectively worth as a Tuan’s collection.

What is more, the collection is more interesting when one considers the fact that Tuan began collecting rare whiskeys since 1996. That year, he walked into a liquor store and spotted a green, limited edition bottle of Royal Salute 21 Year Old whiskey, created in 1953, in honor of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation.

According to Viet, he does not plan to sell his collection, but is eagerly awaiting the next opportunity to expand and supplement it with interesting editions.
