As one of the most popular tourist destinations of the country, this geothermal spa has about 700,000 visitors a year. Even celebrities cannot resist healing properties of this natural spa offers. Jay-Z, Beyonce, Justin Bieber and Bill Gates are regular visitors to this magical place.
However, with so many visitors each year, this part of the planet is always full of people and you can hardly enjoy the pool without strangers around you. Soon you will be able to enjoy the lagoon through a more intimate environment.
With the scheduled opening this fall, Lava Cove Moss hotel will be the first luxury resort built in the bed of 800 years old lava. Guests of the resort will have the opportunity to enjoy a private area for swimming, which will be separated from the main portion.
The hotel will have 62 rooms and will be powered with clean geothermal energy. It will present us with simple Nordic aesthetics in the form of white linen, dark wood and clean lines. Each room will have windows from floor to ceiling with views of the volcanic landscape, as well as stand-alone bath and a balcony or terrace. As for the rooms which will be housed on the ground floor, guests staying in them will be able to enjoy the warm waters rich in minerals from their private balcony.
This resort will have Moss restaurant which will serve local cuisine and chef’s special menu with seven meals. There will be a library and a loggia, and Lava Cove, subterranean spa with sauna. If you want to enjoy a little more private experience, you can rent Hidden Cove, sustainable spa that comes with butler service, an on call cook and private masseur.
Moss Hotel itself and the Blue Lagoon are less than an hour away from Reykjavik and only 15 minutes’ drive from the international airport. Although the rooms are not yet available for rental, you can book your appointment in the lagoon. Prices range from 980 dollars a night.
