Following its celebrated success in Florence, the legendary Hotel Calimala opens its doors in Milan — at the prestigious address Via Melzo 7, in the chic and historic district of Porta Venezia…

Opened in July 2025, the new hotel brings a refined blend of art, fashion, and contemporary luxury, with interiors designed by renowned architect and designer Alex Meitlis. Featuring 88 meticulously crafted rooms, a luxury restaurant, and one of Milan’s rare rooftop pools, this hotel has already become a new epicenter of sophisticated hospitality in Italy’s fashion capital.

Unlike its Florentine counterpart, the Milan edition introduces a completely new aesthetic — a Total Design Project in which every element, from furnishings to artwork, is custom-created for this space. Locally sourced black terrazzo marble, rich walnut veneer, steel, glass, and a palette of clay pink, citrus orange, and mint blue form the visual identity of the interior.

Meitlis describes the project as a “love letter to Milan,” inspired by the city’s artistic and fashion legacy, as well as by the personality of his late husband, Italo-British journalist and former Condé Nast Italia editor, Ivo Bizzigbani. Every detail of the hotel echoes this intimate tribute — from Daphne Arnon’s photography to the perfectly balanced proportions of each room.

The guest rooms, located between the ground and fourth floors, come in six categories — from Single to Penthouse Suite. All rooms feature balconies, rain showers, minibars, coffee machines, and the suite categories include fully equipped bars. Art photography in steel frames reinforces the artistic identity of each room.

Thanks to large windows and thoughtfully positioned lighting, the rooms radiate freshness and visual contrast — balancing reflective glass surfaces with warm, hand-selected materials.

In spring 2026, the fifth floor will welcome the opening of FIVE, a restaurant led by chef Moshik Gamleli. The menu will highlight Mediterranean cuisine with a focus on raw, plant-based and seafood specialties, designed for shared dining experiences. The ambiance will be elegantly urban, with an open kitchen, over 80 seats, and a dedicated lounge for drinks and light bites.

The hotel also offers one of Milan’s rare rooftop pools, featuring panoramic views and a dedicated poolside menu. On the ground floor, an espresso bar with an outdoor garden invites both guests and locals, strengthening the hotel’s connection to its neighborhood.

Hotel Calimala Milano is more than a hotel — it is a full aesthetic experience where design, gastronomy, and art craft a new dimension of luxury hospitality. Blending authenticity with innovation, this hotel is already defining a new standard of contemporary Milanese style.
