Following their successful collaboration on the first Kimpton hotel in Barcelona, the award-winning studio El Equipo Creativo returns with a spectacular redesign of all public spaces at Kimpton Los Monteros in Marbella. The result is a vibrant blend of Andalusian landscapes, artistic heritage, and the luminous essence of the Mediterranean.

The interior design draws on the rich artistic legacy of Andalusia, where lush greenery, sea and sky blues, and golden sunlight dominate the scenery. Special inspiration came from the works of Pablo Picasso, born in nearby Málaga. His influence is visible throughout — in fluid lines, bold color contrasts, and ceramic accents.

Adding to the charm is a subtle homage to 1970s architecture, seen in geometric patterns, niches, and light-filtering elements that create a fusion of tradition and contemporary design.

Guests are welcomed into a warm Mediterranean ambiance: whitewashed walls, wooden details, and vintage-inspired furniture in earthy tones. Hand-painted wall murals evoke the home of a passionate art collector.

The library and lounge areas radiate artistic warmth, with handcrafted objects, expressive rugs, and sliding wooden panels that create intimate corners.

An authentic Andalusian patio — one of the hotel’s central spaces — has been refreshed with Mediterranean materials and a sculptural water feature at its heart.

The iconic Azul Bar, in operation since 1962, is now presented in a bold new blue version. A central bar made from 3D ceramic tiles and Picasso-inspired female figure murals elevate the artistic atmosphere. The bar transitions smoothly from daytime relaxation to evening sophistication.

The swimming pool area features an organic, topographic layout with terraced platforms that blend seamlessly into the landscape. A warm white backdrop pairs with refreshing turquoise water, while vintage design touches evoke a nostalgic summer mood.

One of the platforms houses the Costa Club Pool Bar, designed with terracotta tiles, a wooden pergola, and signature shadows that create an authentic Mediterranean vibe.

Jara Restaurant reimagines traditional Mediterranean cuisine in a setting reminiscent of garden dining. Green ceramic accents and aromatic herbs contrast beautifully with the white surroundings.

Not to be missed is the Escondido Rooftop Bar, located on a multi-level platform with a pool area and a top floor offering unforgettable views of the Mediterranean Sea. The space channels 1970s aesthetics with geometric motifs, terracotta tones, and retro tiles — perfect for relaxed afternoons and glamorous sunset moments.

Founded in 2011 in Barcelona, El Equipo Creativo specializes in hospitality, gastronomy, and branded environments. Their design philosophy centers on storytelling through space and the creation of concepts that inspire.

With over 70 international awards — including the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards and FRAME Awards — and partnerships with some of the world’s top chefs, the studio has established itself as one of the most influential names in contemporary interior design.
