On Grand Cayman’s iconic Seven Mile Beach, the first owners have moved into The Watermark, an exclusive residential development designed to function like a private five-star hotel.
With just 51 residences, butler service, a private cinema, exceptional dining and a wellness center spanning almost 1,500 square meters, the development introduces a new definition of life by the Caribbean Sea.
There are luxury residential developments, and then there are addresses that attempt to completely erase the boundary between a private home and a world-class resort. The Watermark on Grand Cayman belongs firmly in the latter category.
Located directly on Seven Mile Beach, one of the Caribbean’s most famous stretches of coastline, the development has officially begun welcoming its first residents, marking the completion of one of the most ambitious ultra-premium residential projects in the Cayman Islands.
Yet its exclusivity does not come from monumental proportions or hundreds of apartments. Quite the opposite.
The Watermark features just 51 private residences, including a limited number of expansive Grand Residences and penthouses.
A Private Resort You Actually Live In
Developed by Watermark Limited under the leadership of developer Fraser Wellon, the property was never conceived as simply another luxury beachfront condominium.
The idea was to provide owners with the level of service they would expect from some of the world’s finest five-star hotels, without sacrificing the privacy of their own homes.
Architecture, interiors, wellness, dining and service have therefore been integrated into a single, seamless experience.
Residents have access to concierge and butler services, while everyday life is made even easier with valet service and chauffeur-driven vehicles.
There is also an expansive oceanfront lounge reserved exclusively for owners, along with a private wine cellar, an elegant library, private dining rooms and a spacious boardroom.
For movie nights, residents have their own private cinema, while the fitness studio features state-of-the-art equipment and the option of working with a personal trainer.
In other words, the concept is simple: owners should have virtually everything a world-class resort can offer without ever having to leave their residence.
A Wellness Center Spanning Almost 1,500 Square Meters
One of the defining elements of the entire development is Meraki Wellness, presented as the first purpose-designed luxury wellness center of its kind in the Cayman Islands.
It spans an impressive 16,000 square feet, or approximately 1,486 square meters.
Meraki is not envisioned as a conventional spa that residents visit occasionally, but rather as an integral part of everyday life. The concept encompasses personalized wellness programs, advanced treatments, recovery programs and specialized services tailored to each member.
The concept is led by Shula and Peter Clarke, while access is organized through a carefully designed membership structure intended to preserve privacy and exclusivity.
It is precisely this integration of wellness philosophy into residential living that represents one of the main ways The Watermark aims to distinguish itself from traditional luxury residential developments.
A Private Chef Instead of a Restaurant Reservation
Particular attention has also been devoted to gastronomy.
The development’s chefs can create personalized farm-to-table experiences or serve meals directly inside an owner’s private residence.
A signature fine-dining restaurant is also planned, bringing The Watermark even closer to the concept of an exclusive private resort.
The only difference is that after dinner, you do not return to a hotel room – you simply go home.
Miami Architecture Meets the Caribbean
The architectural vision for the development comes from Miami-based RAD Architecture, working in collaboration with local firm MJM Design Studio, combining an international approach to luxury residential architecture with an understanding of the unique character of the Cayman Islands.
Construction was carried out by Arch & Godfrey.
The location itself, however, is arguably the greatest luxury the development has to offer.
The Watermark sits directly on Seven Mile Beach, making the sea and the unmistakable Caribbean landscape an integral part of its owners’ everyday lives.
Rather than measuring luxury solely through marble, expensive furnishings and square footage, much of the development’s value lies in space, privacy, wellness, personalized service and direct access to the sea.
Just 51 Owners Share This World
Limiting the development to only 51 residences is no coincidence.
At a time when major branded residence and resort developments often include hundreds of units, The Watermark takes the opposite approach, building its exclusivity around a deliberately small community of owners.
Fraser Wellon describes the development as a rare opportunity to bring together location, architecture, hospitality and lifestyle at a level capable of competing with some of the world’s finest residential addresses.
With its first residents already moving in, The Watermark is no longer simply an ambitious promise depicted in architectural renderings.
It has become a private Caribbean address with only 51 residences, its own wellness world, butlers, chefs, a cinema and one of the world’s most famous beaches practically on its doorstep.
And perhaps that is the best definition of contemporary ultra-luxury: not simply owning a spectacular home, but having an entire resort that feels as though it exists solely for you.
