TWORUBA BAR OPENS AT LONDON TOWER BRIDGE

New TwoRuba bar opens in London's Hilton Tower Bridge...

TwoRuba is a new bar in Hilton Tower Bridge, in London, opened last month, and promising extremely flexible space that seamlessly transits from relaxed, laid-back daytime café bar, and into a sleek nighttime bar.

Bar and restaurant design studio AfroditiKrassa has created the main feature of the bar, the “metal mesh architectural drapery” as a part of its urban opulence interior design concept, for the new popular Hilton Tower Bridge destination lounge bar.

Hilton brand, which is almost a century old, is going through a massive transformation, loosening the tight grip on its guidelines when it comes to design, inviting new rising stars of design such as AfroditiKrassa to contribute to the future interior of their sights.

Pushing the boundaries of the traditional curtains with contemporary interpretation of space separation, and applying the concept of “metal mesh architectural drapery”, a new, eco-friendly bronze material was used. This curtain functions alongside the central catwalk area that connects all three levels of the bar, articulating the entire space. In order to accentuate this strong sense for space, lighting pendants rhythmically dress the ceiling with light, guiding the guests through space. This combination of bespoke modular adjustable furniture assures maximal flexibility for the guests as well as intimate private atmosphere.

AfroditiKrassa’s concept for luxury bar TwoRuba is based on dualities, reflecting the duality and contrast of rich history of the background: Tower Bridge, one of London’s hallmarks, as well as modernity of the surrounding buildings; and on the other side Bermondsey, which although day buzzes with urban cool, is still deeply rooted in the old trades of Leather, Hite and Wool Exchange, all of which great sources of inspiration for the studio when it comes to selecting materials, textures and patterns for the project.

Based on the concept of urban opulence, the palate of materials used plays with contrasts: soft materials like quilted tan leather, deep purple suede and hardware materials such as concrete, copper, brass and timber. The walnut timber gives the impression of warmth and refined elegance to the design, while the “bronze mirror” creates a lavish finish to the interior.

AfroditiKrassa goes for both contemporary and tradition references: traditional led glass windows are the inspiration for the diamond scheme, moving the special esthetics and repeating within the interior. New addition to the bottom level is a separated room meant for hotel clientele as well as guests who prefer a higher level of privacy. The interior is a combination of sexy lounge with materials and details giving the impression of urban style. The diamond scheme that forms the wall paneling subtly backlit.
