World's most expensive teapot

Najskuplji čajnik sveta - Egoist

Egoist teapot is the perfect example of endless love which Brits feel towards this drink…

This exclusive teapot has already reached the Guinness Book of World Records as the most expensive teapot of the world, with 3 million dollars price. Presented recently in Mosimen restaurant in London’s Belgravia, this teapot was designed by Nirmal Sethia, founder of N Sethia Foundation.

Milanese jeweler Scavia had created this teapot of 18-carat gold, which is completely covered with precious stones – 1.658 diamonds and 386 rubies. The jewel in the crown of this teapot is the natural 20.70 carats ruby, located on the mere top of its lid. Its handle is made from fossilized mammoth ivory. Scavia team had worked six months on this project.

This teapot was created in order to raise awareness about the historical and cultural importance of tea, the magical refreshing potion, which was a crucial part of creating civilization, since Tang dynasty, until today, on a global level. It’s part of collection Chitra, which was created in memory of Nirmal Sethie’s wife, Chitra.

This collection is dedicated to all things related to tea, and it contains over 1.700 rare teapots and other similar objects, historical and modern. The whole collection is worth around 212 million euros.

Unlike numerous other objects which are marked as the world’s most expensive, this teapot is not just decorative – Mr Sethia already brewed some tea in it. Of course, that wasn’t that filter baggy tea which you can purchase anywhere, but the best, rare, Muscari tea.
