Mulberry launches a new special edition collection

Portobello Tote bag has received energetic new patterns and bold shades…

As part of the celebration of its fiftieth anniversary, British brand Mulberry has teamed up with a rising designer, Priya Ahluwalia, to create a special collection together. Ahluwalia was inspired by her Nigerian-Indian heritage, using her fascination with hair as a piece of identity, protest and expression, to influence this collection, which has at its heart a 100% sustainable Portobello Tote bag, as well as a selection of scarves, redesigned in style of her vibrant aesthetics, celebrating the art, ritual and symbolism of Afro-Caribbean hair. Bespoke “wave” motifs dress pieces inspired by black hair braiding techniques and are presented in seams inspired by braids and patchwork details. Also, we can see symbols of pride that are characteristic of the sixties and seventies, such as afro combs and silhouettes of braided hair.

Four oversized Portobello Tote bags are offered, with five models of regular dimensions and three mini options, which were created especially for this occasion. Silk scarves are created from 100% organic silk in dimensions 70x70, so they can be worn as bandanas or in hair.

Finally, we can say that the entire collection is available for purchase from June 15.
