„Port“ wine is famous Portuguese wine with sweet taste. It comes from Duoro valley, which is in north part of Portugal. City Oporto, harbor and center for export and trade, is place this wine got its name from. This wine is dating from XV century. It became popular in England in 1703.
Production process is very complex. Grapes are transferred by river Duoro in Oporto to prepared natural basements where wine will be held. Duoro area is protected area, same as name „Port“ which comes from 1756.
They also make dry and white wines, and black „Port“ is often used as dessert wine. You can drink it with different types of cheese, like Gruyere, Stilton or Gorgonzola.
