Meet the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 4MATIC - the latest name to join the brand's ultra-luxury fleet. If you follow the automotive section of our site, then you are definitely already aware that the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is based on the second generation of the GLS SUV, which has been adapted to further focus on luxury and comfort. Starting with the ultra-luxury SUV aesthetic while maintaining the overall style of the regular GLS, Mercedes stylists have given the Maybach version an abundance of unique styling elements. We can notice a lot of great chrome covering his entire body.
At the front is a massive grille of mesmerizing design, with vertical orientation. More interesting are the mesh inserts in the lower part of the bumper, which is also chrome plated. The front grille design is also matched by optional 23-inch wheels. The chrome bar extends the entire width of the rear of the car, continuing on the fenders and headlights. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS will be available in a total of eight two-ton finishes.
The story inside the driver's cab is quite different; the interior is as luxurious and charming as you would expect from a Maybach model. The third row of seats has been replaced to allow passengers in the rear bench to have more legroom, with individual seats that can be folded down; a five-seater configuration is also available. The cabin is filled with premium amenities such as modular tables, champagne glasses, unique scent and a fun rear-end system. Seats with ventilation, heating and massage options, opaque roller shutters and an electric panoramic roof come as standard.
The powerful SUV is powered by a twin-turbo V8 4.0 liter engine, tuned to produce 550 horsepower. This unit is assisted by a 48-volt hybrid system that offers an additional 21 hp. Mercedes claims that the Maybach GLS accelerates from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour. It is believed that it will hit the markets during the second half of next year, and its price has not yet been announced.
