Think getting your hands on a limited-edition Rolex Daytona is hard? Try acquiring a Pagani hypercar.

Even billionaires with impeccable financial portfolios often wait three to four years to receive the keys to their dream machine — and prices rarely start below $4 million. In the world of ultra-luxury automobiles, Pagani Automobili stands apart. Their cars are not just fast — they’re rolling works of art, rare investments that often outperform the stock market. While the base price for a standard model hovers around $3.5 million, that’s merely the entry fee into one of the most exclusive selection processes in the automotive world.

Founder and lead designer Horacio Pagani explained this process during an interview with Italian host Gianluca Gazzoli on Passa dal BSMT. The journey to ownership starts with building a relationship. The company assesses not just financial capacity, but the buyer’s genuine passion for the brand and an understanding of craftsmanship. Pagani steers clear of speculative buyers. If someone tries to flip a car within a year or two, they are permanently removed from the customer list.

Strict resale restrictions are embedded in most contracts. These include clauses preventing immediate resale or granting right of first refusal to Pagani. This strategy safeguards both the exclusivity and long-term value of each car.

Once specifications are finalized, it takes 9 to 10 months of meticulous handcrafting to produce each vehicle. From the exterior design to the last stitch in the cabin, every detail is shaped with uncompromising precision. This deliberate pace not only ensures a flawless result but also helps cultivate an intimate community of owners.

Existing clients are always given priority when ordering new models. Even billionaires can be turned away if they aren’t part of the Pagani family. In many cases, Horacio Pagani himself gets involved in the process, especially when it comes to bespoke commissions.

In an era obsessed with speed and instant gratification, Pagani offers a return to true values — patience, artisanal excellence, and the recognition that masterpieces are never rushed. These aren’t mere transportation devices; they are moving sculptures, requiring commitment, knowledge, and a deep respect for the art of automotive design.
