Glass Igloo Village Hotel in Finland

Treat yourself with a clear view of the Northern Lights from a private igloo and you’ll definitely have a one of a kind experience...

If winter is your favorite season, then Glass Igloo Village is a must see. Part of the Hotel Kakslauttanen, this unique ice hotel is rather famous and popular among those interested in spending a couple of nights in a real igloo.

The hotel is located not far from Finland’s Urho Kekkonen National Park and near Ivalo. The Ivalo Airport is just half an hour away from the glass igloos. There are three types of accommodation you’ll find here: 20 warm glass igloos that offer guests the possibility to see the Northern Lights from the comfort of their beds, 20 snow igloos for those in search of an arctic authentic experience and 32 traditional rustic log cabins.

The interiors of the glass igloos are warm and cozy at night thanks to the thermal glass walls and ceilings these are fitted with. You don’t have to worry about the clearness of your views. They won’t be affected by the heat inside the igloo because the glass contains a frost preventative which helps maintain crystal clear panoramic views even when the temperature outside drops -22 degrees Fahrenheit. The warm glass igloos are made for two guests and they are small enough to be warm without consuming too much energy.

If you opt for a snow igloo, then you’ll get insulated socks, sleeping bags and headcover since the weather in Finland gets really cold. A snow igloo can host up to 5 guests. So, if you intend to take some friends with you, you can share the same igloo.
