After an extensive renovation, the Theoxenia Hotel in Mykonos, where Jackie Onassis and Brigitte Bardot spent their days, has reopened.
The newly reopened hotel reflects classic Greek simplicity and sophistication and is located in the most sought-after location on the island, Kato Mili. The extensive renovation features top-to-bottom changes, with a completely new look, ushering in an era of minimalism in Mykonos. The hotel embodies classic Greek simplicity and sophistication, locally known as "Greekness".
The hotel has undergone an extensive renovation since October 2021 with the help of VOIS architects, who have brought the interiors and exteriors to life in order to bring the mythical design into the present day. The hotel lobby has been completely transformed and the hotel itself can now accommodate double the number of guests compared to its previous capacity.
Built within a culturally protected area, a key focus has been to maintain the traditional Cycladic construction techniques that shined when the building was first constructed in 1960. The exterior of the hotel is made of the same stone that makes up the existing sea walls. The appearance of the hotel has been restored to its original style from the 1960s, when it was built by architect Aris Konstantinidis, with added details for modern comfort.
The hotel now offers superior accommodation with 37 new rooms, 8 deluxe suites and 4 signature suites with terraces and stunning views of private pools. The hotel has a spectacular pool overlooking the ocean, spacious grounds for outdoor yoga classes, beautiful orange trees and spectacular viewpoints.
A stay at Hotel Theoxenia begins with a blissful swim in the crystal-clear Aegean, followed by a breakfast comprised of local fruits, Greek pastries and freshly made omelettes. Hop aboard and visit the island of Delos or celebrate the full moon by a bonfire on the beach before indulging in a varied menu of Mediterranean flavours at the hotel's Kou Kou Bar restaurant set against a panoramic view of the ocean.
The hotel also offers private cruises in the island's picturesque bays and guided tours to the neighbouring islands of Rhenea and Delos. Adventurers can enjoy private diving lessons and diving excursions to discover underwater ruins dating back to the ancient Greek empire.
