Rare, 25.59 carat Burmese ruby ring, the famous paint "dove blood," sold for a record 30.33 million, last Tuesday at an auction in Geneva.
From Sotheby stated that the demand for colored stones and natural pearls was extremely high. After the auction, the ruby was sold to an anonymous buyer for 26.25 million Swiss francs (27.3 million Euros).
"Sunrise" (as named Ruby), originally from Myanmar, part of the collection Cartier jewels and it was expected to be sold at a price between 12 and 18 million dollars.
This is a new record set for a ruby, as well as Cartier jewel at auction.
