Belgrade is one of Europe’s inevitable cultural stations, and the arrival of the famous London-based author and style historian, James Sherwood confirms this, who waited for the perfect opportunity to visit the Serbian capital, which is otherwise a major regional centre of social events, in order to promote his two most important books -Savile Row: The Master Tailors of British Bespoke and The Perfect Gentleman: The Pursuit of Timeless Elegance & Style in London (edition of Thames & Hudson), and all within "24 hours of Elegance."

Before publishing his two most famous book, James Sherwood has long been a part of the fashion world continously monitoring trendshe published his two most famous books, James Sherwood has long been uu fashion world, continually monitor trends and exhaustively studied London’s style for years.  He also worked as a fashion critic at the BBC and edited the Louis Vuitton guide to London, for eight years. 

His commitment to the culture of London’s most prestigious street, Savile Row, principally known for its traditional bespoke tailoring for men and houses of elegance, began in 2007 when he received an invitation to attend one of the most prestigious events dedicated to men’s fashion, “Pitti Uomo,“ and to curated "The London Cut": the first major retrospective of British-made suits, which was then shown in Paris and Tokyo and is scheduled to be shown in Washington D.C. in 2014.

Sherwood’s book, “The Perfect Gentleman” will be presented at the White Palace on September 6th, following the opening ceremony for “24 hours of Elegance.” This lavish publication is about the true gentleman and his quest for the perfect detail and ideal accessories.  It consists of six historical chapters, from the Regency era until present day, describing British brands, including handmade shoes, jewellery, dress shirts, custom made ties, suits, perfumes, hats and the people that created them.  The book marked and described models worn by Winston Churchill, Cary Grant, Russell Crowe, David Beckham, as well as many world leaders. It is also illustrated with three hundred and fifty colour photographs.

James Sherwood will present his book, “Savile Row-The Master of Tailors of British Bespoke” on September 7th and the Grand Casino Beograd during the “ABSOLUT Luxury Salon” and in partnership with The Economist. "Savile Row” is a fully illustrated history of male elegance and tailor-made suits, which were created on this small London street that has, since then, become world-famous for generation.  It brings together clients with exquisite taste and refined style – from Hollywood stars to the British Royal Family.  This book not only celebrates London's historic houses of elegance, but also explores their absolute dominance in the world of men's fashion and style, throughout the century.
