Unique Hitler kneeling sculpture, called Him, was created in 2001 from wax, polyester and human hair by artist Maurizio Cattelan...

This sculpture of the notorious Nazi leader was sold at a cost of a whopping 17.2 million dollars on Sunday, at Christie's auction in New York. Seen from behind, this sculpture is reminiscent of a little child playing, but when you look at the front, it becomes perfectly clear to you that this is Adolf Hitler. As part of the auction "Bound to fail", where postwar and contemporary art pieces are being sold, Him was originally estimated to amount between 10 and 15 million dollars. Cattelan previous works of art were sold at a price of 7.9 million dollars, so this is his new record.

All of us heard of collectors and connoisseurs of art who are willing to pay incredible sums of money for works of art, even though some of us will never understand that. Especially in this case - believe that many people are interested in knowing what got the customer so inspired or motivated to spend almost $ 20 million on this purchase. However, we believe that this is a work of art destined to be observed, not understood.

However, there are some masterpieces, which we understand, but we cannot understand why someone would buy it. In 2010, the mayor of Milan banned the restoration of black and white photograph of this very sculpture. Nevertheless, in 2012, it was displayed in Warsaw, a city that suffered the most by Hitler's Nazi regime.

"I wanted to destroy it," said Katalan. "I was changing his mind a thousand times each day. Hitler was the personification of pure fear and evil. “In addition to Hitler's reputation, an anonymous buyer purchased this sculpture over the phone. We will never find out why...
