The first attraction of Iceland is the so called Golden Circle, famous tourist route and national park. You can see the famous geyser there, which was the cause to name this place Golden Circle. Even though it went out in time, surrounding smaller geysers still attract visitors, with active eruptions every 20 minutes. Gulfus waterfall is nearby as well, which enchants visitors with its green almost florescent color.
Reykjavik, as a city, is completely opposite from a typical European town. Short buildings and happily painted houses, minimal traffic frequency and one way streets are the unique elements of this town. Many claim that it is captured in the 1920s, and people who live in it are purposely nurturing that romantic appearance. Reykjavik is a unique collision between traditions and urban – it is a unique city of contrasts.
Icelandic volcanoes are maybe causing chaos in the air traffic, but they are certainly a real touristic attraction of this country. Many visitors come to see the foothill of Eyjafjalajokul volcano every year. Its name can hardly be pronounced, but the sight is mesmerizing.
Old Nordic myths state that the dwarfs were turning into rocks during the day and that that is the reason why there are so many little rocks and cliff in the landscape. A huge part of Icelandic landscape is under lava, so it seems surreal.
