The new creation is conceived as the scent of instant attraction – that inexplicable moment when a person, a glance or a fragrance can completely change the course of the day. CHANEL therefore presents it not simply as another perfume within its celebrated collection, but as a kind of “magnetic force” that speaks of attraction, impulse and the freedom to express one’s own personality.
A New, More Intense Mademoiselle
The story of COCO MADEMOISELLE began in 2001, when Jacques Polge created the fragrance that would become one of the most recognizable olfactory signatures of CHANEL.
A quarter of a century later, his son Olivier Polge, CHANEL In-House Perfumer-Creator, takes that familiar foundation and leads it in a more intense, warmer and more sensual direction.
CRUSH ABSOLU belongs to the intense ambery fragrance family, with a composition built around a play of contrasts.
The opening brings grapefruit and lychee, giving the fragrance a juicy, luminous and almost electric freshness. Rose and jasmine emerge at its heart, while patchouli gradually transforms the character of the composition.
In the base, vanilla and vetiver bring warmth, depth and sensuality, leaving a rich and enveloping trail on the skin.
The result is not a fragrance built around a single dominant note. Its appeal lies precisely in the way it evolves – from fruity freshness through floral femininity to a warm, woody and ambery finish.
A Fragrance About That Moment When a “Crush” Happens
The name was not chosen by chance.
For CHANEL, a “crush” represents that sudden, almost instinctive attraction that cannot be rationally explained. Olivier Polge therefore sees the new fragrance not as a way of conforming to the expectations of others, but as a means of expressing one’s own personality.

That is precisely why CRUSH ABSOLU feels like a slightly bolder younger sister to the classic COCO MADEMOISELLE – it retains its elegance while adding greater intensity, warmth and seduction.
The New Fragrance Has a Different Look, Too
The transformation does not end with the fragrance composition.
For CRUSH ABSOLU, CHANEL has created a more striking interpretation of the bottle, featuring a contrasting label and a faceted cap that emphasize the stronger character of the new edition.
The visual identity follows the concept of the fragrance itself: the familiar elegance of the COCO MADEMOISELLE universe remains, but it is now infused with a slightly more provocative energy.
A New Chapter Begins 25 Years After the Original
Over the years, COCO MADEMOISELLE has been reinterpreted in several different forms, including the softer L’Eau Privée, created for nighttime moments, and the richer Eau de Parfum Intense.
CRUSH ABSOLU now occupies a distinctive position between a familiar heritage and a new generation of luxury fragrances.
And perhaps that best explains why CHANEL has not attempted to completely reinvent something that already works. The collection’s recognizable DNA remains intact – floral notes, patchouli, femininity and confidence – but its energy has been amplified.
Twenty-five years later, COCO MADEMOISELLE has not changed its character. It has simply found a new way to capture attention.
