Louis Vuitton has taken its beauty story to a level where makeup is no longer the most expensive part of the collection.

The new limited-edition La Beauté Louis Vuitton collection, created by Pat McGrath and Nicolas Ghesquière, brings $195 lipsticks and $340 eyeshadow palettes – but the real price shock is hiding among the accessories.

When Louis Vuitton decides to create a makeup collection, an ordinary lipstick in plastic packaging is hardly what anyone would expect. Still, the new La Beauté Louis Vuitton collection manages to take things one step further: a set of five brushes costs around $1,200, while a luxury case for mattifying papers reaches approximately $630.

Two major names are behind the collection. Pat McGrath, Louis Vuitton’s Creative Director of Cosmetics, and Nicolas Ghesquière, Artistic Director of Women’s Collections, have spent more than a decade creating beauty looks together for the House’s runway shows. Now, their long-standing collaboration has been translated for the first time into a limited-edition Monogram collection available to customers.

The result is two completely different beauty worlds – Monogram Dune and Monogram Infrarouge.

The first plays with light, desert-inspired and delicate tones, while the second ventures into darker territory with red, black, burgundy and holographic effects.

Dune or Infrarouge: The Angel and Devil of the Louis Vuitton Beauty World

Monogram Dune is characterized by light neutral shades, sandy matte finishes, rose-gold details and light Monogram canvas. Monogram Infrarouge is its complete opposite – red-and-black Monogram canvas, glossy red details and an almost futuristic aesthetic.

Both lines offer three core products: the LV Ombres eyeshadow palette, LV Rouge lipstick and LV Baume.

The Dune LV Ombres palette combines icy white, shimmering rose gold, bluish hematite gray and an anise shade with a delicate pink sheen.

Infrarouge is somewhat more dramatic, yet surprisingly wearable. Its shades include pink-beige, cool taupe, shimmering blue-charcoal and velvety burgundy.

Perhaps the most unusual product in the entire collection, however, is LV Baume 099 Galactic Veil – a transparent, deep black balm filled with multidimensional holographic glitter.

The Makeup Is Expensive, but Wait Until You See the Accessories

Of course, with Louis Vuitton, half of the experience is the packaging itself.

For the first time, the eyeshadow palettes come in genuine Monogram canvas cases, while the Dune lipstick and balm feature matte sand-colored metal packaging finished with a rose-gold ring. The Infrarouge versions arrive in matte black metal with a glossy red Monogram signature.

All of the packaging is conceived as something to be kept, with the makeup designed to be replenished using corresponding refills.

And then come the accessories.

There is the Lipstick Pouch, Mini Vanity, Poche Toilette, brush set and perhaps the most extravagant object ever created to deal with a shiny forehead – the Mattifying Paper Case.

The luxury case contains 200 mattifying papers decorated with the Monogram motif, an integrated mirror and a card slot. The price? Around $630.

Even more impressive is the Lip & Eye Brush Set, featuring five synthetic-fiber brushes, a washable interior lining and a mirror. It costs approximately $1,200.

In other words, the brushes you use to apply your Louis Vuitton makeup can cost more than the makeup itself.

How Much Does the Complete Louis Vuitton Beauty Collection Cost?

The LV Ombres palette is priced at $340, while the LV Rouge lipstick and LV Baume each cost $195.

Buying all six makeup products from both lines comes to a total of around $1,460.

But the five accessories from just one Monogram line reach €3,350, or approximately $4,000.

For the collector who simply refuses to choose between Dune and Infrarouge, there is also the ultimate option: all six makeup products and all ten accessories from both collections.

The bill? Around $9,500.

And just like that, Louis Vuitton has managed to create a beauty collection in which a $195 lipstick almost starts to look like the affordable option.

The limited-edition La Beauté Louis Vuitton Monogram collection arrives in Louis Vuitton stores on August 27, 2026.
